LPAR Configuration and Implementation

The ACS LPAR Configuration and Implementation service is designed to assist customers with the configuration and implementation of a logical partitioned Power Systems (System i) system. Logical partitioning (LPAR) enables a single server to operate as if it were two or more independent servers. Each logical partition represents a specific allocation of server resources.

An LPAR environment provides better management, improved availability, more efficient resource utilization and increased flexibility during the deployment of multiple independent workloads. Primary resources on a managed system include processors, memory, disk drives and adapters. These operating systems operate as independent logical servers. Each partition shares the system serial number, system model and processor feature code. All other system attributes may vary among partitions.

Key Benefits

Detailed Planning and Project Management
Detailed planning is essential for a successful LPAR implementation. ACS consultants conduct a thorough planning and preparation phase to help prepare for the LPAR Configuration and Implementation. The standard LPAR Configuration and Implementation service includes:
  • Planning sessions to create an appropriate LPAR Configuration and Implementation plan
  • Verify requirements for each logical partition
  • Configure and implement defined logical partitions
  • Provide basic Hardware Management Console (HMC) education
Additional LPAR Options
ACS offers several additional LPAR options, including:
  • Load AIX partition
  • Load Linux partition
  • Load i5/OS partition
  • Configure Physical Ethernet
  • Configure Virtual Ethernet
Certified Power Systems (System i) Consultants
You can Rest Assured knowing your LPAR Configuration and Implementation will be performed and supported by ACS’s certified Power Systems (System i) consultants - this means your project is controlled and backed by the best-of-the-best.

A Smooth Implementation
ACS conducts pre-configuration and post-configuration tasks to ensure a smooth implementation. Configuring and implementing logical partitions with ACS is different - We discuss each phase of the project with you to ensure your business critical operations remain intact and provide you with the basic education you need to manage your LPAR environment.
